A Defeat

Why is it so easy?

It is the system that we all live in, so comfortable in the day to day, to scared to deviant from the luxuries of 2017 to understand that it's all built on the foundations of a weak skeletal structure? Is this what Rome felt like?

Probably not. Even they world of modern inventions slowly poisoning the populations, the notion of the end had to be clear. No people would be so ignorant to realize that growing opposition could eventually topple a regime, climbing to the top of their political mountain, and watch it crumble. Crumbing even sounds so far fetched. The mighty cannot fall. We're too big to fail.

I hope it doesn't feel like this at the top. Even the most futile of the 1% cannot feel such hopelessness as a lone member of the middle class, let alone a minority. Do they see the end coming? They must right? The have the access, the financial, the raw power of the majority. Otherwise, all of us our blind to this.

I don't like talking about the end of times. It's sounds so silly. The privilege is crazy nowadays, but we're still ignorant of the moving pieces. The voices of a hurt people can be squashed so easily. The message blurred into disrespect, and the power of yanking paycheck quiets the loudest of protest. The value of a protest hasn't made it outside the 70's. Nobody cares unless somebody dies.

Correction- nobody cares unless there's a video of someone dying.

We have to wait for another black to be shot by a police officer while he's unarmed.

We have to wait for the president to have soldiers killed to see how bad he's doing.

We have to wait for our country to fall before we realize that something's wrong.

We have to survive, so we can continue to care.
